Photography has become a huge part of who i am as a person. I started off completely winging photography. I walked in blind. It was something that I was told I was good at, and I was the person at all of the events taking hundreds of photos. I took a leap of faith and dove in not having much background. As time went on photography became a hobby of mine that I just naturally did well with. I never realized the heart and soul you have to have to be a photographer. I then realized I was NOT going to give up and I wanted to become the best photographer I could. I learned you can't just pick up a camera and take a photo you need to have extreme passion for this, your clients need to be comfortable with you and trust you, you can't just download an editing app and think your photos look professional. I could go on and on. I then knew I wanted to job shadow other photographers nearby and do online classes to become an expert. I am now eight months into photography, and I almost gave up again because I felt like my life was too busy as a single mom working full time and trying to be as present to my little one as I could. I took two weeks off in October from doing photoshoots and I realized I wasn't going to give this up like I gave up so many other things in my life. I missed being behind the camera. It was a test to make sure I knew this is what I want to put my time and full efforts into. I kept taking an hour or so to start working on my new website and for weeks would just stop. I want to live up to my potential and do what I love but didn't have the motivation I thought. Capturing families, couples, pregnancies and more is my passion so I better get motivated I told myself.
When photos are all you have left of someone you learn to hold on tight to those memories. Michelle Kay Moss was my mother, she passed away in 2019 from Triple Negative Metastatic Breast Cancer very suddenly after I had thought she was healing. I was 21 and it changed my life forever. That being said, those photos I have of my mom are what I get to look at every day. Those photos get to remind me of the wonderful mom I was so honored to have. I am so thankful for those memories I hope to be able to capture moments for all of you that you can hold onto forever.
Before I got into photography, I would get my photos done by local photographers and I realized I never fully felt comfortable. My appearance is a huge insecurity of mine. I know that allot of us females and males physically and mentally struggle with confidence. I realized if I can be that person to just help boost someone's self-esteem during a photoshoot then this is the job for me. I feel like I never got that during photoshoots I received throughout the years and its not fair. I want to be a positive part of someone's photoshoot. Photos tell a thousand words and looking at a photo and hating it because you don't feel beautiful is NOT something I want any of my customers to feel.
To hundreds of photos of my toddler I have taken that helped grow my love for photos. To getting to have photos up all over my walls of photos of my deceased mom. To not making clients pay half a mortgage for their family photos. To confidence, passion, family, love and GOD I pronounce the new and improved Rachel Maria Moss Photography
To the little girl that INSPIRED me to do photography. Thank you, Remie Rae, for starting my journey of LOVING photos. Thank you, Remie, for being the best model a momma can ask for. You are so sweet and picture-perfect inside and out.
Remie is a huge part of me and without a doubt is a part of my photography story.
